This is the second book in the Sunrise Cantina series.
In Clonely You, we meet a clone named Aithar who is constantly falling in and out of love, much to the amusement of his ship companions. While this saddens Aithar, he is pragmatic in saying that it will only be the final love that matters, as she will be the one to love him back.
Michaela is a human woman earning her living as a dairy farmer. She sells skimmed milk and butter to the local store but is dismayed that no one wants the liquid left after making butter. Every bottle of buttermilk has been returned to her. (I did wonder why no one was making breads, cakes, and cooking with it. Thankfully, this is explained later in the book.)
Aithar and Michaela’s paths cross when one of Aithar’s pregnant friends craves more butter and sends him to arrange a bulk order with the local supplier.
I did struggle with some parts of this book. Michaela did not really come off as a dominant kind. Her interactions with Aithar were uncomfortable and felt more selfish than caring. As for Aithar, he seemed too laid back, more of a doormat, and easily laid around. He did not feel like someone who could take charge.
Despite that, I noticed that the Goodreads rating for this book is a solid 4.07, which shows that many people have enjoyed it!
